The Chabad movement originated during the eighteenth century in the town of Lubavitch, White Russia. In our generation, the renowned teacher, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson otherwise known as the “Rebbe”, guided Chabad. Under his leadership the organization has grown to over 3.000 branches with over 10,000 Rabbis all over the world. It is the largest international organization involved with Jewish Education and outreach programs. The organization’s underlying doctrine is Ahavat Yisroel- love and concern for the welfare of a fellow Jew. There is no distinction between one Jew and another regardless of their affiliation.

The philosophy of Chabad is to serve the spiritual and physical needs of every Jew, wherever he or she may be. The ultimate goal of the movement is to unite all Jews around the world and inspire them to become more aware of their Jewish heritage, bringing the world to its ultimate state of peace and fulfillment. We are supporters of Israel, and participate in all facets of the defense of the Holy Land. Chabad has found a formula to develop a rapport with the most alienated of Jews, using a rare combination that blends traditional Judaism with modern day living. By arousing an intellectual and emotional interest in Judaism,

Chabad Lubavitch has become a catalyst to reconnect Jews with their Jewish roots and revive the sparks of Jewish consciousness in the hearts and minds of millions.

including: Marietta, Alpharetta, In town, Emory University Campus and the City of Augusta. Our flagship location in Sandy Springs has a large campus ground, a magnificent Synagogue building, social hall, Mikvah and a successful Jewish preschool.

As Georgia has grown, so has Chabad. Over the past eighteen years we have strived to meet the needs of thousands of families, many of who live in Gwinnett and Northeast Georgia. After consultation with these families and other community leaders we identified Northeast Georgia, as the logical next step to establish a new Chabad Center, directed by Rabbi Yossi and Esther Lerman.

We believe that with a Jewish population of approximately 10,000, our organization will help develop a positive Jewish environment, build a strong Jewish identity and encourage more Jews to make their home in Gwinnett County.
